Though TumbleRoot is located way over on the California coast, we’ve always had a special place in our hearts for good ol’ Texas. As a country-lovin’ little boutique, we’re green with envy of all those livin’ the dream in the Lone Star State. For this week’s blog, we decided to tip our hats to all you Texans (or you Texas lovers like us!).

Here’s TumbleRoot’s Top 10 Favorite Things About Texas:

1. The people. The pride.

Hard working, church-going, fun-loving, charming, compassionate, kick-ass. Texans love their home, and they aren’t afraid to show it. When someone says they’re from Texas, no one in the world asks where that is. Texas isn’t just a place, it’s a lifestyle. And a damn good one.

2. The word “y’all”.

We know this isn’t necessarily ONLY a Texas thing. But Texans OWN it. “Hey y’all!” It’s flippin’ catchy. And yeah, we’ve tried to throw it out here and there conversationally… but we know it’s just not the same. Saying y’all without that magnificent southern accent is just sad. It’s like saying “shrimp on the barbie” in not an Australian accent. Less cool.

3. Patriotism.

Texans love their state, but they love this country too. They take pride in being Americans. And what would America be without Texas? Pretty boring, I bet. And less big. Obviously.

4. Everything’s bigger.

From the Aggie Ring to rodeos to hair to advertising to… donuts? Yeah. Texas, ya like it big. And we like that.

5. The landscape.

From the wide open spaces to the canyons to the wheat fields outside Dallas. Bluebonnet season. Big skies. Even bigger sunsets. ♡

6. Music Scene.

Willie Nelson. The Classic. Beloved by all, Texans and non. Then, of course, there’s also Robert Earl Keen. Eli Young Band. ZZ Top. Selena. Steve Miller Band. Bob Wills. Buddy Holly. Beyoncé. George Strait’s exes are populated in Texas… Not to mention the music festivals! SXSW, Austin City Limits, and Summerfest.

7. Real Good Eats.

Tex-Mex: a comfort food, a hangover cure, a drunken late night binge. Delicious, 24/7. And debatebly THE tastiest oysters in the world are from the Gulf, for cheaper than imaginable. Not to mention you’re too far from a Whataburger.

8. Fashion.

Texas fashion is a broad spectrum. From simple gals in boots, jeans, and a white tee to divas in glam dresses, big hair, and diamonds. Texans are sexy and they know it. It ain’t bragging if it’s true.

9. Chuck Norris.

Yep. Chuck Norris can touch MC Hammer… And he’s a TEXAS Ranger, damnit.

Chuck Norris has also already been to Mars; that’s why there are no signs of life there.

10. The Cowboys.

I mean, sure, the football team is great. But also, just the everyday cowboy who comes home every night, takes his boots off at the door, and gives his wife a kiss. We so envy you, cowboy’s wife.
